ABSTRACT:
Mental health is the successful performance of mental function, resulting in productive activities, fulfilling relationships and the ability to adapt to change and cope with adversity whereas Mental illnesses are medical conditions that disrupt a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life. In health care system nurses plays vital role in early detection and management, hence the study was conducted to assess pre and post knowledge of peripheral level nurses on early detection and management of mental illness among peripheral level nurses. The data was collected from 105 peripheral level nurses using demographic Performa and structured closed ended questionnaire, it was concluded that self instructional module was effective in improving the knowledge of peripheral level nurses
