ABSTRACT:
An experimental study to determine the effectiveness of reminiscence therapy in reduction of stress and improved coping strategy among elderly was done with 20 samples in experimental and 20 samples in control group at a selected old age home, Coimbatore. The pre test mean value for stress and coping was 30.65, 44.15 and standard deviation 2.59, 4.87 respectively of the experimental group when compared against the post test mean value for stress and coping with 12.8, 69.35 and standard deviation 1.96, 4.71 respectively reveals ‘t’ value of 22.31, 17, which shows a very high statistical significance at P<0.05 level. In the control group the mean value for stress and coping was 21.05, 53 and standard deviation 4.35, 10.56 respectively with a ‘z’ value of 2.13, 6.1 which is significant at P<0.05 level.
