ABSTRACT:
Background of the study: As the outbreaks of Dengue fever increasing in India. The incident rate increased all the parts of the states. it is very essential to know more about this disease and prevalence, change in the viral strain, load, disease severity, early identification of the disease and early management of the disease resulting in good recovery. Many factors plays a major role in outbreak such as stagnated water, increase in international travel from dengue endemic areas are playing a major role in disease spread. Measures should be taken to control the aforementioned causes to prevent disease spread and reduce incidental rate. Objectives: The objectives of the study is to assess the knowledge regarding dengue among Rural elders in selected area of Varuna PHC, Mysuru. Methods: The research design selected for this study was descriptive design. Non Probability convenience sampling technique was adopted to select 60 rural elders in selected area under varuna PHC, at Mysuru. Result: Result revealed that majority of sample are have average knowledge on dengue among of rural elderly but there is no association between the knowledge of the samples with their selected demographic variables. Conclusion: It was concluded that level of knowledge on dengue was average and there is no statistical significance association between the knowledge and demographic variable.
