ABSTRACT:
Young children have high infection rate and suffer with a heavy worm burden with different types of worm infestation. These parasitic infection manifested by reduced growth rates and children are not able to achieve their full potential in physical performance and education. Heavy hook worm burden is the major cause for iron deficiency anemia. Worm infestation found in both urban and rural areas. So a study was under taken to compare the knowledge level of urban people and rural people on prevention of worm infestation. Sample size was 50 and convenient sampling technique was used in this study. Urban and rural people knowledge scores were compared with the help of student ‘t’ test urban people’s mean was 15.52 (62.08%) and rural people’s mean was 13.4 (53.6%). The calculated t value (3.91) is more than the table value. Hence there is a significant difference between knowledge level of urban and rural people. This shows that the urban people have more knowledge than rural people on prevention of worm infestation. This study recommends creating awareness among rural people on prevention of worm infestation.
