ABSTRACT:
Kawasaki disease or Kawasaki syndrome, is an acute febrile vasculitic syndrome of early childhood. Also called asmucocutaneous lymph node syndrome and infantile periarteritis nodosa, because it affects lymph nodes. Primarily, it affects children under age of 5. It causes inflammation in the walls of medium-sized arteries throughout the body. The inflammation tends to affect the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle skin, and the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose andthroat. Nineteen out of every 100, 000 children in united states will come down with Kawasaki Disease.Signs of Kawasaki disease, such as a high fever andpeeling skin, can be frightening. Kawasaki disease is one of the leading causes of heart disease in children. Because of no specific test and no clinical feature is pathognomonic, the diagnosis is based on the presence of constellation of clinical findings. Kawasaki disease is treatable, so the children recover from the disease within few days oftreatment without serious problems
