ABSTRACT:
Asthma is a disease that affects the breathing passages of lungs. The Global Asthma Report 2018 highlights that asthma kills around 1000 people everyday and affects as many as 339 million people and prevalence is rising7. This article highlights about “Bronchial Thermoplasty” (BT) the newer treatment modality for asthma. Bronchial Thermoplasty is approved by the FDA in 2010 involving the delivery of controlled therapeutic radiofrequency energy to the airway wall, thus heating the tissue and reducing the amount of smooth muscle present in the airway walls5.
