ABSTRACT:
Early detection saves lives. Breast abnormalities aredetected early by Breast Self Examination.Improving knowledge and practice of breast self examination among B.Sc (N) students may help them to detect changes in breast at an early stage. This study was conducted to assess the level of knowledge and practice of breast self examination among B.Sc (N) students and to correlate the level of knowledge with their practice. The descriptive research design was adopted with a convenience sampling technique for selecting 50 samples among BSc Nursing students from TSACBCON. Semi structured questionnaire and Checklist were used to assess the knowledge and practice of students respectively and analysis was done using Frequency and percentage distribution, Mean, Standard deviation and Karl Pearson correlation coefficient statistics. The study findings revealed that 22% of them had inadequate knowledge, 74% of them had average knowledge, 4% of them had adequate knowledge. 96 % of them had poor practice, 4% of them had unsatisfactory practice and none of them had satisfactory or goodpractice. The results concluded that there is a weak positive correlation between knowledge and practice.
